Stoney - “Jailbird”

A reader e-mailed Tuneage recommending Stoney a few days ago. This morning, his album The Scene and The Unseen dropped through my letterbox, and it only took a couple of listens to realise I’d found my favourite album so far this year.

Stoney is a British musician that got started in his basement in Sheffield — home to multitudinous great musicians — in 2001. Since then, he’s supported the Arctic Monkeys, played at Glastonbury and SXSW, and garnered critical acclaim from various British publications, including NME, for his latest album, The Scene and The Unseen.

This track is one of the singles, and the first track, from The Scene and The Unseen. You can, and absolutely should, download three more from his website and stream another four on his last.fm page. And after that, I highly recommend buying the album.

A nice little Flash app that lets you create your own isometric pixel pictures. Expect to lose a few hours today watching the animations of other people creating their pictures, though. (via Simplebits)

Slashdot, in my opinion, looks a lot better and more organized than most of the social sites I use. Too bad I can’t use it since I’m already using del.icio.us and digg.

This one seemed to be neglected from Friendfeed users, so I thought about trying it out. Two reasons mainly: I like reading books and I will have to do book reports, Biographies and reference tests in High School. I’ve been looking around some, and I found that Goodreads and Librarything have one (if not more) difference from each other. Goodreads, for example, allows you to browse books, see whats popular, and have your friends do the same. Librarything is less sociable and more marketing as it plugs in with Amazon and eBay. I find both to be good, but I want input and feedback to know what exacly I am looking for in a book.

Goodreads also allows you to invite your contacts from various messangers, and even encourages you to submit your own book review. Feel free to follow my activity via, Friendfeed.
